FIREFIGHTERS rescued two people and two dogs from a boat that had run aground on the River Severn near Worcester yesterday evening (Saturday, June 6).
Crews were alerted to the problem just after 6pm, on a stretch of the river north of Bevere lock.
Two boat crews, from Worcester and Droitwich, and appliances from both Worcester and Malvern attended the incident.
A narrow boat with two people and two dogs had run aground on the river bank.
A Hereford and Worcester Fire Service spokeswoman said:"We received one call, from the police, requesting our assistance.
"They had had a call to say that there was a boat that had run aground just upstream of Bevere lock in Worcester.
"We sent one applicance from Worcester, plus boat crews from Worcester and Droitwich, a water first responder and an officer.
"When we arrived there was a narrow boat that had run aground.
"Crews managed to make contact with the occupants and launched the fire service's boat.
"One male, one female and two dogs were rescued by the fire personnel using the boat and relocated to a safe location.
"The narrow boat itself was moved to the marina on Lock Lane."
Crews left the incident at 8.28pm.
