STAFF at the embattled organisation running Worcestershire’s three major hospitals are bracing themselves for a major inspection next month.
A total of 52 inspectors from the Care Quality Commission – including chief inspector of hospitals Professor Sir Mike Richards – will descend on Worcestershire Royal Hospital, Kidderminster Hospital and Redditch’s Alexandra Hospital on Tuesday, July 14 to carry out a full survey of services.
The planned week-long inspection is part of the independent organisation’s commitment to inspect every healthcare provider in the country. As well as detailing inspector’s findings, the report – which is not likely to be published for several months – will rank the trust in one of four categories: outstanding, good, requires improvement and inadequate.
The CQC carried a surprise inspection at the A&E departments at the Royal and the Alex in March and published their findings last week. The report outlined a number of concerns including overcrowding, staffing levels and the safety of children.
