STAFF at a Worcester secondary school showed they have got some serious dance moves in an amusing parody video.

Teachers and support staff at Christopher Whitehead Language College filmed the video to entertain Year 11 students in their end-of-school assembly.

After previous efforts to the likes of Don't Blame it on the Moonlight and Happy, this year's effort is to the backing track of Mark Ronson's smash hit Uptown Funk.

There are some stunning shapes being thrown by staff members, with choreographed group dances on show and a cameo from headteacher Neil Morris.

It has been posted on YouTube and has had more than 5,000 hits since it was posted last week.

Assistant headteacher Rachael Stevens, who filmed the video, said it provided a light-hearted way to end the school year, especially after a gruelling exam period.

She said: "I saw an Uptown Funk video, which is the song of the year so far, and then had a think to see if we would go down that route or if it would be too clichéd.

"A school in America had done something like that, with teachers dancing with loads of students.

"I shared that and it got a really good response so we decided to do it.

"I give rules to different departments then tell them to let me know when they're ready and I'll video it.

"This year everybody was really well organised.

"I ended up carrying my camera around everywhere with me, I would film the different parts and then add them to the video."

It has been well received by the outgoing Year 11's according to Mrs Stevens.

"Year 11 left on Friday and we showed it at their leaving assembly, which has become a bit of a tradition," she said.

"The children were in absolute hysterics and cheered when all the teachers came in.

"It's just been so much fun and all the students were really chuffed about it.

"Lots of our friends from different schools have said it's a really good thing to do.

"It's a hard time of year with GCSEs but this has really brought everyone bouncing into school.

"It's given us a bit of rejuvenation at the end of a long year."
