THE heat is set to rise next week as Worcester experiences a heatwave that is set to strike the UK on Tuesday.

Although the weekend won't be anything special, Ian Michaelwaite, from Pershore-based netweather.tv, said temperatures could hit 30C next week.

"I'd describe this weekend's weather as 'okay'. It's nothing too exciting but it will stay around the 20Cs on Saturday although there will be quite a bit of cloud around," he said.

"The cloud will break up though and there will be sunny spells with a light, westerly breeze.

"Sunday won't be as good but it won't be a horror show. It will be a bit cooler because the clouds will be thicker and there will probably be some showers.

"Next week we will get a surge of warm air coming over from Spain. This is great news if you like heat, but not so great if you have asthma or pollen allergies. By Tuesday the temperatures will creep up to the mid-20Cs. There will be decent blue skies too and the temperatures will climb through the week. On Wednesday it will reach the high 20Cs and may even brush 30C.

"But as always over here, the hot weather is usually followed by storms. There will be a chance of storms towards the end of the week. But the good weather should cling on for a few days at least after that. It should be really nice."
