THE popular band "James" is to perform at Worcester Racecourse at a concert in aid of Help for Heroes.

The band, which began life in 1982, is best known for hits such as “Sit Down”, “She’s a Star” and “Laid”, achieving success in the UK and US.

The band. which has seven top ten UK albums to their credit, selling over 25 million albums worldwide, will be the grand finale to "The Ladies Evening with James Live After Racing" on Wednesday, August 19.

A £25 ticket (£10 for children) covers admission to the racing which begins at 3pm and the concert at 8.30pm.

If guests choose to attend the concert and not the racing tickets will still be charged at £25 for adults and £10 for children. The set is expected to last approximately 90 minutes.

The racecourse is hoping to sell between 6,000 and 7,000 tickets for the charity fundraiser,

sponsored by Startin Honda & Startin Skoda and HallmarkHulme Solicitors.

The vintage themed Ladies Evening is back for its second year and will again feature vintage treats to enjoy along with a fabulous evening race meeting.

After the racing the rock band James will be performing live in the Centre Course for all racegoers to enjoy.

Every hospitality package will be entered in to a prize draw to win a ‘meet and greet’ with James.

One admission enclosure is in operation for this event. All visitors will have access to the County Enclosure and Centre Course.

A small team of local Help for Heroes volunteers including members of Team Sapper, a group of Worcestershire cyclists who raise money for H4H, will be collecting donations and selling official H4H merchandise.

Hero Bear, the charity’s mascot will also be walking around collecting donations and offering photo opportunities throughout the evening.

The cyclists have only recently returned from an epic fundraising cycle ride from Berlin to Worcester.

Help for Heroes provide practical, direct support for the Wounded, Injured and Sick serving and veteran community including their families.
