THERE was some blue sky thinking by a businessman looking to join in efforts to raise money in memory of a father who died of cancer.

The family of Nigel Collinson have recorded a version of ELO's Mr Blue Sky as a tribute to the father-of-two with sales raising money for Cancer Research UK.

Mr Collinson passed away in January last year from oesophagus cancer, just two days after his 45th birthday.

Stuart Allen, who runs The Sales Performance Company Limited, said he was so moved by the story that he wanted to help give the family's fundraising efforts a boost.

Mr Allen, from St John's, Worcester, took to Twitter and pledged to donate £1 for every retweet his tweet received during #WorcestershireHour on Monday between 8pm and 9pm.

By the end of the event his original message received 258 retweets and handed over a £260 donation in exchange for a copy of the single.

He said: "I was moved by the story of how and why the record came about and offered £1 for every retweet of a tweet I did to promote the record during Worcestershire Hour on Monday.

"In all about 258 retweets were received, which in itself would have put the message in front of hundreds of thousands of Twitter users, so I rounded the donation up to £260."
