SCOUTS from Worcestershire and Herefordshire are just 25 days away from the adventure of a lifetime.

Thirty-six local Scouts will attend the World Scout Jamboree in Japan, after 18 months of training, planning and fundraising for the special event.

They will join Scouts from across the world as the 23rd jamboree, which takes place every four years, is expected to attract 30,000 participants.

The Scouts from Worcestershire will take part in numerous activities focused on discovering new cultures and learning about the environment, sustainable development and global issues.

There will also be a “moving visit” to the Peace Park in the Hiroshima, where Scouts from many different nations will come together to experience the “solemn and reflective atmosphere” of the park.

The World Scout Jamboree runs from Tuesday, July 28, to Saturday, August 8, in Yamaguchi City, Japan.
