PEOPLE from in and around Worcester are invited to find out more about dementia at an event at a city care home.

The educational event takes place at Perry Manor Care Home on Charles Hastings Way, near Worcestershire Royal Hospital, on Tuesday (July 7) from noon to 3pm.

Neil Mapes from Dementia Adventure will share his knowledge and provide tips for those caring for someone living with dementia.

The event is part of an ongoing partnership between the care provider and Dementia Adventure designed to help family members and carers gain a clearer understanding of dementia.

Mike Dearn, home manager at Perry Manor, said: "Recent research undertaken by Care UK has highlighted the challenges faced by family carers looking after loved ones living with dementia.

"A survey of 2,000 people throughout the UK showed only 18 per cent of people in the West Midlands felt they would be able to cope if a parent or close relative was diagnosed with dementia, with almost half of all respondents in the region unaware of the support available should they find themselves in the position of carer.”

"We understand being armed with plenty of expert advice and information can make all the difference for those caring for loved ones living with dementia.

"By inviting Dementia Adventure to host this free event in partnership with Care UK, we can ensure this information is communicated clearly and concisely, with visitors having the opportunity to speak directly to the professionals in this area as well as team members from the care home."
