A COMMEMORATIVE garden to honour the Worcestershire Regiment is to be opened later this month.

The Norton Commemorative Garden is the result of a four year programme and has been designed by children from the local Norton-Juxta-Kempsey First School.

The competition was organised by the Norton Worcestershire Regiment Group.

The focus was on designing a garden that would commemorate the Norton Barracks and the soldiers of the Worcestershire Regiment who were based there from 1881 to 1962.

The winning design has been transformed into a special garden based at the local St Peter’s Garden Centre.

This garden is one of the many projects that the Norton Worcestershire Regiment Group is co-ordinating as a means of commemorating and recording the history of the local area.

It is the first project to be completed and we are very excited and proud of this achievement.

The official opening will be held at the garden centre on Thursday, July 16 with arrival at 4.30pm for a 5pm start.
