A NEW mobile library made its first school visit when it stopped by Lyppard Grange Primary School recently.

Worcestershire County Council's newly designed Schools' Library Service mobile library visited the school in Warndon last week.

The old Schools' Library Service (SLS) vehicle had been in operation since 1996 and was in need of updating.

The newly refurbished mobile library is decorated in graphics taken from Tom Gates children's books, written and illustrated by author Liz Pichon, and still carries over 4,000 national curriculum and popular fiction titles.

Councillor Lucy Hodgson, cabinet member with responsibility for localism and communities, said: "It's wonderful that the children at Lyppard Grange School were the first to see the new mobile and that they responded so positively to it. It's really striking and looks fantastic.

"The Schools' Library Service provides such a valuable resource to schools giving them access to even more exciting reading material which they can use to encourage the children to read more and enjoy reading. It's good to have this resource presented in a way the children find engaging."
