ROADWORKS in Warndon Villages, which are already running over their official completion date by almost two months, could still have another few weeks to go.

No definite completion date for the works on Woodgreen Drive could be given by Worcestershire County Council on Friday.

Last month your Worcester News reported on how the original completion date for the works on Middle Hollow Drive and Woodgreen Drive would miss their original completion date of May 29, resulting in a new finish date of July 9 being announced.

The delay was put down to "two unrecorded gas mains" which were uncovered during the works.

Although the work on Middle Hollow Drive is now complete, barriers are still in place on Woodgreen Drive.

Worcestershire County Councillor John Smith OBE, cabinet member for Highways, said: "The vast majority of the programme works have been completed and work is taking place on the final elements of the scheme, which includes the full installation and going live of the new pedestrian crossing.

"The last parts of the project will be completed in the next few weeks. We would like to thank users and residents for their ongoing patience while these works are completed."

The work will create a left-hand filter lane at the approach to the roundabout, at the northern end of Woodgreen Drive, for drivers looking to turn left into Cotswold Way towards Blackpole.

It is hoped both sets of works will improve traffic flow and allow for future growth in the number of vehicles using those junctions.

These works are connected with roadworks in Tolladine Road, where a left-hand filter lane has been created for vehicles wishing to turn left at the traffic lights, towards Warndon and Windermere Drive, and in a third scheme a controlled pedestrian crossing is also being installed across Woodgreen Drive, south of Homestead Avenue, which will link the Old Tolladine Road, Greenway, to a footpath.
