STUDENTS at a Worcester school ended the academic year on a high by getting the chance to try their hands at a number of arty activities.
As part of Bishop Perowne CE College’s arts week starting on Monday, July 6 youngsters were given the opportunity to have a go at puppetry, archery, stage combat, aerial dance, circus skills and martial arts.
A number of field trips were also held as part of the week to the Malvern Hills, Vertical Limit climbing centre in Shrub Hill Road, museums in London, RAF Cosford in Shropshire and others.
A group of youngsters also spent a day in Krakow, Poland, where they reflected on the lasting legacy of the Holocaust and totalitarian regimes, museums in London.
Headteacher of the Merrimans Hill Road school Mark Pollard said the week encouraged pupils to work towards the school’s ethos of ‘Endeavour Forever’.
“It’s important that they learn to take this out of the classroom and into other activities,” he said. “Arts Week is a great way of helping them do this.
“It’s one of the most popular and greatly anticipated events of the school year as it gives our students the chance to take on an activity that they would not otherwise have had the chance to do and succeed at it.
“The visits offsite are equally as important as they tie in with what students have been learning in the classroom allowing them to put into practice skills learnt, or to see places in real life.”
The week concluded with the school's annual sports day on Friday, July 10.
