IT may only be July but one generous family are already thinking ahead to Christmas and how they can support children in hospital.

Hannah Smith and Antony Lobb have wanted to do something for children spending Christmas in hospital ever since their daughter Ella was given an Easter egg during a stay at Worcestershire Royal Hospital.

The generous gift meant a lot to the family at the time and the couple have set up a Go Fund Me page in the hopes of raising enough money to buy presents to put a smile on youngsters' faces at Christmas.

Miss Smith, of Kenwood Avenue, Tolladine said: "Me and my partner have always said it would be nice to surprise children at our local hospital on Christmas Day with presents as some can't spend it at home with their families.

"It is just a nice idea to give a little something to put a smile on their faces.

"My daughter is now aged four but was in hospital for her first Easter.

"A lady and her partner came in and gave my daughter an Easter egg.

"It put a smile on our faces just knowing someone thought of the children at hospital on Easter and we thought it would be brilliant to do it at Christmas time."

Miss Smith, aged 21, and her partner, aged 24, hope to raise £600 for presents online at gofundme.com/zrf4mc.

The couple will then play at being Father Christmas by delivering the presents to poorly children staying at the hospital on Christmas Day.

She added: "We are hoping to raise as much as we can and the money we raise will be spent on children and baby toys which will be taken up to the children on Christmas day."
