THE warmer weather at this time of year allows us to focus our attention more on the outdoor areas at our hospices.
As such, it was a pleasure to welcome an army of willing volunteers at Acorns for the Three Counties on the Bath Road recently.
The 48 employees from Interserve Plc put their skills and creativity to good use for major landscaping work at the side of the hospice – improving access, planting wild flowers and creating colourful wooden cut-outs for the fencing and pathways.
Weeks of careful planning and preparation paid off and we are very grateful for everyone’s hard work.
We are constantly striving to maintain and improve our gardens, which are so important to our children and their families at this time of year, offering a quiet, peaceful place to reflect and enjoy the outdoors.
The summer months are an opportunity for families to relax and spend more time together – recreational time a lot of us take for granted.
Many of the children we support require round the clock care. Acorns offers a safe and stimulating environment in which children can stay – giving their families a much-needed break, enabling them to focus on siblings or just simply recharge the batteries.
Respite is just one aspect of the package of care Acorns provides, which includes palliative, end of life and emergency care delivered by a team of experienced and highly skilled professionals. It costs us close to £9 million every year to provide these services and we rely on the generosity of the public to fund our work
We are extremely grateful to those who support us, but we recognise that in this, the 10th anniversary year of Acorns for the Three Counties, your support is as important as ever.
Whether it is giving time volunteering or through fundraising, you can help ensure Acorns can be there, all year round providing the care so precious to those who need it.
