TRAFFIC jams are far from a rare sight in Worcester – but they are usually reserved to busy main roads.
Worcester News reader Radek Piotrowski sent in these pictures of an unusual line of traffic in Angel Place and Broad Street, which he took at about 8pm on Sunday, July 26.
The bizarre scene is believed to have been a knock-on effect of roadworks throughout the centre of the city meaning drivers were forced to take an unusual route round.
Mr Piotrowski said he had come across the unexpected sight after walking through Crowngate on a rainy evening.
“It was quite entertaining to see all those cars moving slowly as in if a bizarre, sad and damp parade,” he said.
Although the reason for the unusual flow of traffic is not entirely clear, it is most likely the unexpected result of a series of road closures as the result of roadworks at the Cathedral roundabout, New Street, Mealcheapen Street, the Corn Market, The Trinty and elsewhere.
The work is due to go on until August 17, with road closures in place seven days a week.
