DUCKS will make a splash for St Richard's Hospice when a popular event returns to Worcester.

Residents are invited to go quackers with mascot Puddleduck at the St Richard’s Hospice annual duck race on Saturday, August 15.

The event, which is in association with Worcester Festival, takes place on the River Severn in Worcester, with the race starting at 2pm from Worcester Bridge, from South Quay to Worcester Cathedral.

Competitors can visit Puddleduck on the quay side from 11am to adopt a duck and then cheer it on as it races against other ducks down the river.

Small ducks can be adopted for £3, large ducks cost £5 and a limited number of fancy dress ducks will be available at £25.

High Street vouchers are offered as prizes for the first ducks over the line, with all proceeds go to St Richard’s Hospice.

St Richard’s Hospice community fundraiser, Jayne Sargeant, said: “This is a great event to watch as hundreds of ducks are launched from the bridge into the river. It’s much more fun to adopt a duck and cheer it on and help raise funds for St Richard’s at the same time. We look forward to welcoming the crowds on the day.”

The event is sponsored by Puddle Ducks, which provides swimming lessons for babies.
