ADVENTURERS are being challenged to take part in an unusual fundraising event for a brain injury charity next month.

Participants in Headway Worcestershire’s Reverse Jailbreak event on Saturday, September 12 will be challenged to use their travel skills and charisma make their way 30 miles back to Worcester after being abandoned in the Cotswolds.

The teams of between two and four will have to make it home before 6pm without spending any money on transport and raising cash for the charity. Participants in the event will be allowed to keep their phones on them so they can complete photographic challenges and take part in five dares.

Chief executive of the charity – which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year – Mel Akers said: “While this event is about fun and fundraising, it has a serious side.

“When people leave hospital after a brain injury, they often feel lost and abandoned.

“We hope entrants get a small insight into this feeling and understand why the work of Headway is so important.”

Headway Worcestershire is supports people who have suffered brain injuries as well as their families and carers.

The event starts at Pitchcroft at 10am, entry is £10 per person.
