IF you still using stabilisers but have your sights on being a cycling superstar, then special courses in the school summer holidays could be just for you.

Because social cycling group Women on Wheels is holding sessions in Worcestershire to teach young children to ride a bike. The group is a Balanceability provider – the UK’s first and only accredited learn to ride programme – and is offering "ditch the stabilisers" days for children aged four to six over the summer.

Rachel Vann, who co-founded Women on Wheels in 2012 with Amy Taylor, said: "This is an exciting time for Women on Wheels. Having already established a very successful social cycling group, we wanted to branch out and cater for our younger generation. We are excited to be a Balanceability provider in the local area and it gives children the opportunity to ditch their stabilisers over the summer holidays.

"We set up WoW with the aim of providing a safe and friendly atmosphere for women of all levels and abilities to enjoy the benefits of cycling. The children's sessions are a new area of growth for the group and we aim to expand further so watch this space."

Balance bikes and helmets are provided for all children and the next sessions are at Perdiswell Leisure Centre, Worcester on Fridays, August 7 and August 14.
