A SCHEME helping combat isolation and loneliness and improve mental health in Worcestershire has been awarded a £117,431 grant by a national organisation.
The Workers’ Educational Association has been handed the grant for the Wyre Forest-based Aspire project from the Big Lottery Fund Reaching Communities programme.
The three-year scheme involves a number of special activities aimed to help adults in the area improve their own health and wellbeing.
Projects development manager at the Workers’ Educational Association Howard Croft said: “The Aspire partnership project will improve social integration by offering access to free community based learning opportunities to improve people’s mental health and wellbeing.
“In turn, this will help reduce feelings of isolation and improve employment prospects, thereby building stronger communities.
“We are very grateful for grant funding from the Big Lottery Fund as this work could not take place without it.”
The project is currently looking for organisations willing to help run or host activities or other aspects of the scheme.
