SUMMER might be over – at least that’s how it seems given the past few days – but the sun is still shining in Evesham.
Journal reader Roger Johns sent in this picture of some impressively large sunflowers he had grown in his garden in Laxton Crescent.
Mr Johns said he had begun growing the flowers earlier this year as part of a competition with his daughter, but had not expected them to get so big.
“The tallest is 9ft and still growing,” he said. “I am hoping it will make 10ft.
“The flowers are 12ins across. The variety is Sunshine Giant.
“Can any of your readers beat this?”
Mr Johns challenged other Journal readers to show off their impressive gardening efforts by sending in photos to the paper.
Pictures can be sent to news@eveshamjournal.co.uk.
