RAIN failed to dampen spirits at a popular annual vintage car rally near Malvern.

Although soggy conditions threatened to derail the 68th Madresfield Vintage Car Rally on Sunday, August 23, visitors and participants kept calm and carried on.

The event, which has been running since 1947 saw numerous vintage car owners turn up to show off their unusual and quirky vehicles.

Ledbury Rotary Club was on catering duties and kept everyone fuelled with bacon and sausage rolls, with proceeds going towards the various charities and causes it supports.

Jan Long from the club said weather had got so bad members even had to physically tether the gazebo against the driving winds.

She said: “Although numbers of participants and those attending were down, there was good-humoured support in spite of torrential downpours and competitors sitting in open top lovely old cars holding onto umbrellas, causing much hilarity”.
