A MAN had to be rescued from the River Severn after he slipped and fell into the water during heavy rain yesterday evening.
West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to the path running along the side of Worcestershire County Cricket Club near Worcester Bridge just before 6.40pm and reported the man was out of the water ten minutes later.
He was treated at the scene for effects of hypothermia and taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital for further care.
Firefighters were also called to the scene but the man was already out of the water by the time they arrived.
