COLOURFUL characters brought Witley Court to life over the bank holiday weekend as families enjoyed a two-day Victorian fete.
A travelling show featuring jugglers, a flea circus and wacky entertainers captivated the crowds and "everyone had a fantastic day out".
The event at the English Heritage site in Great Witley, which was one of England's top country houses before a disastrous fire in 1937 turned it into a "spectacular ruin", marked the finale of a summer of Victorian fun at the visitor attraction.
Jenny Davie, event manager at English Heritage, said: "It was a really great time.
"There was so much going on and lots of the entertainment was interactive, which children loved.
"The whole site was brought to life and everyone had a fantastic day out."
Ann Baynton, of Witley Court, added: "We had some wonderful feedback from visitors and all of the re-enactors were very entertaining.
"People really enjoyed the fete and everyone seemed to be laughing and having fun."
