CHARITY Home-Start South Worcestershire is appealing for more parent volunteers to help meet a growing demand for family befriending in the area.

The good cause has said volunteers are welcome from all age groups and walks of life, as long as they have “parenting experience and can understand some of the stresses and strains of family life”.

New recruits will receive training and travel expenses and will be well-supported by Home-Start staff.

Jess Bird, coordinator at the charity, said: “If you are a mum or a dad and remember how hard it could be during those early years, please call us and find out more about how you can help.

“The families Home-Start supports are facing the ups and downs of everyday life; illness, disability, financial stress, housing problems and relationship issues.

“On top of the daily pressures of parenting, these extra challenges mean parents are crying out for some friendly support, a listening ear or an extra pair of hands.

“We value our volunteers highly at Home-Start and you will be well supported and prepared for the role.”
