THANKS to the support of the Bransford Trust, the Worcester-based Vamos Theatre is now recruiting members for its brand new Young People’s Theatre group for 9-13 year olds.

Children from several Worcester primary and secondary school are already signed up, including Bishop Perowne, Pitmaston, Stanley Road and St Georges.

A Vamos spokesperson said: "The Bransford Trust has pledged funds over three years to assist the running of the group, which will allow Vamos to invest in training young people in mask theatre skills, for which the company is internationally renowned, and further the quality of theatre education provision in the city.

"The weekly sessions, held at Worcester Arts Workshop, will introduce young people to the basics of mask theatre, and provide a solid and creative platform for other theatre and physical theatre skills. Young people will get the chance to work with Vamos’s professional production team and work towards a performance at the end of term at Worcester Arts Workshop, with a special performance for elders at a Care Home in the local area."

Sessions, which start on September 30, will be held each week on Wednesdays between 5:30 and 6:30pm, until December 16.

Vamos Theatre’s Kathryn Green, who will be leading the sessions said:‘We are delighted to have received such generous investment from the Bransford Trust, and to be able to give local young people a strong foundation in mask and physical theatre. We’d like to thank the Trust for showing faith in our record of high quality theatre performance and education work. We can’t wait to get started."
