AN action-packed time was enjoyed by Scouts from Worcester during an international camping trip.

55 Scouts from across Explorer units in Worcester and the Black Pear Scout Network visited Kandersteg in Switzerland last month.

Those on the week-long trip had the chance to take part in dynamic activities such as paragliding, canyoning, white water rafting and ice climbing. Some undertook a two-day hike.

Sandra Luff, Black Pear Scout Network leader, said: "It's a different experience to go camping abroad.

"It's what Scouting is all about.

"It's also a chance to meet Scouts from all around the world."

Mrs Luff said the Scouts particularly enjoyed the number of action-packed activities they were able to take part in.

She said: "It was absolutely brilliant.

"The children did different activities each day and when they came back from their activities there was a real buzz around camp.

"They shared their experience and since we've been back all the photographs have been shared so everyone can look at what everyone else did.

"It was amazing."

The Scouts stayed at the Kandersteg International Scout Centre, a centre run by volunteers which offers Scouts from around the world the chance to meet in a mini-jamboree.

Explorer scouts are aged 14 to 18 while the Black Pear Scout Network is for people aged 18 to 25.

All of the scouts were given the opportunity to apply for the trip which took place between Friday, August 7 to Sunday, August 12 and cost around £750.
