THERE will be plenty to savour at the annual Malvern Autumn Show this month as top chefs demonstrate some mouth-watering recipes during the two-day event.

And high on the list of this year’s ingredients is TV chef and author of What To Eat Next Valentine Warner, who’s BBC 2 programme What To Eat Now ran for six series.

Valentine will be the main course in the event’s Good Life Pavilion and the top chef will be bringing his signature cooking style of seasonal, simple, robust and flavoursome food to live cookery demonstrations.

His latest book What To Eat Next includes dishes that can be on the table in as little as 30 minutes while others, while quick to make, require a slow cook in the oven. The emphasis is on straight forward food and letting the ingredients do the work with a minimum of fuss.

Another expert to be found in the Good Life Pavilion will be BBC Gardeners’ World presented Joe Swift who will be sharing his gardening and growing knowledge.

While Otter Farm’s Mark Diacono will combine gardening and food by sharing cooking advice from his farm kitchen.

The Good Life Pavilion will feature a huge allotment through which visitors can meander and pull up a perch to share top tips on preparing produce from plot to plate. Jim Buttress will also join Mark here from his BBC’s hit show The Big Allotment Challenge.

This year the show, being staged on September 26 and 27, celebrates its 20th anniversary and offers a feast of family entertainment, artisan produce, food and gardening. The harvest show of the season in association with Westons Cider Visitor Centre, Much Marcle, Herefordshire, will showcase the best seasonal food and gardening in the stunning setting at the foot of the Malvern Hills.

Ken Nottage, chief executive officer of the Three Counties Agricultural Society, said: “Malvern Autumn invites visitors to be inspired by the season. It’s a glorious showcase of harvest produce and gathering in the fruits of the summer, truly celebrating the wealth of the area. We look forward to welcoming families, foodies and garden lovers alike to the ultimate harvest festival.”

The event will also host the UK National Giant Vegetable Championship which promises to return bigger and better than ever before with a broad variety of oversized vegetables. In 2014, this area of the show smashed two vegetable world records and this year is set to be no exception. A giant cabbage weighed in at over 130lb and a scale breaking 1200lb pumpkin both by Cornishman, David Thomas broke 2014 records.

Thirsty visitors can seek out a tipple at the pop-up Westons Cider Visitors Centre. This area of the show offers a cider bar and garden, along with Hereford Cattle from their own award-winning herd. The Orchard Pavilion & Hop Yard will also celebrate the region’s finest cider, perry and beer with an overwhelming array of apples, pears and hops.

The show’s Food & Drink Hall will be overflowing with artisan producers. At its heart will be a live kitchen welcoming a bustling line up of local chefs throughout the day including foraging favourite, Liz Knight.

The Women’s Institute will also lead The Village Show in this area, which will celebrate the finest examples of home baking and crafts including Victoria Sponge and Jam classes and for young budding bakers, rock buns and 100th Year Birthday Cards. This area is open to all skill levels.
