ANYONE who has any family heirlooms in the attic gathering dust in Droitwich, will have the opportunity later this month to find out more about them, and maybe discover some forgotten treasures with the arrival of the Antiques Roadshow.

The BBC television programme is making its way to Hanbury Hall on Sunday, September 20, and will feature Roadshow favourite Henry Sandon, who regularly helps out at fetes and fundraisers around Droitwich. Henry will be on hand to offer free advice and valuations to visitors.

Antiques Roadshow presenter Fiona Bruce, said: “This will be my 8th year on the Antiques Roadshow and I still feel so lucky to be presenting the programme. Every week is different; a new location and thousands of new visitors. The only constant is the pleasure of the unexpected - we never know what will turn up, from the most fabulous Fabergé to the most humble object with a riveting story.”

BBC Antiques Roadshow executive editor Simon Shaw, added: “The beautiful house and parkland of Hanbury Hall will be the perfect backdrop for filming Antiques Roadshow. We are looking forward to meeting everyone who comes along to see us, and it would be wonderful if people brought along objects relating to the history of the house and the village.

“I believe that Hanbury could have been the inspiration for The Archers home of Ambridge, so who knows, if anyone has an object that relates to Britain’s most popular radio soap, we’d love to see it.

“Every show is different but we love seeing all the treasures people bring to Antiques Roadshow, and hearing their stories behind them. Even after 38 years, the magic formula of surprising some lucky guests with exciting news about their treasures is still a thrill for us, the visitors and the viewers. As it is on a Sunday we hope lots of families can make it along for a great, free day out.”

The National Trust house will be closed on the day, but the garden and park will be open as usual, and the roadshow will be up and running from 9.30am to 4.30pm. Entry to the show is free, no tickets are needed, and people interested in bringing an item along do not need to pre-register.

Anyone with large or heavy items, should email antiques.roadshow@bbc.co.uk or write to Antiques Roadshow, BBC, Whiteladies Road, Bristol BS8 2LR, where the programme makers may be able to help with transportation to the venue.
