IT IS always nice to invite the neighbours over, but these three horses dropped in unexpectedly at a home in Worcester.

Eli Cameron thought his dad was 'foal'-ing around when he shouted there were horses in their front garden of their home in Russet Close off Monarch Drive, St John's.

After enjoying a good munch on the roses, the horses were rounded up by police officers and handlers in high-visibility jackets but Mr Cameron is still baffled about where they came from.

He said: "We live on an estate and it takes about five streets to get to us. I have no idea where they came from.

"I think there might be a paddocks locally but it definitely isn't what you would expect to see in your own garden.

"My dad shouted "There's horses on the lawn" and there they were.

"There were people using a rope to try and guide them or contain them and there were lots of neighbours outside too.

"It was very unusual."

Fortunately, all they left behind after their visit yesterday was a chewed rose bush and a few hoof prints.

Police said they received four calls around 6.30pm reporting five horses loose on Hallow Road.

"Several members of the public stopped their vehicles and did their best to attempt to warn other drivers and slow traffic down.

"Police attended the incident due to the potential danger to road users.

"The horses ended up on Monarch Drive where officers and the owner were able to get them safely under control and away from the road."

The police log shows no record of who owned the horses.
