FAST PACED London living, job security and affluence - turning your back on all this to follow your dreams is no mean feat.

But this is exactly what one Droitwich woman did after taking a sabbatical from her job at British Airways to travel to India for two months to qualify as a teacher in a dynamic yoga style.

Now working for herself as Red Kite Yoga, she started out by teaching classes in Cutnall Green where her fast-paced but comfortable lifestyle seemed a world away.

The 39-year-old said: "I did have a time when I missed the feeling of affluence and security that a good job in London can give you but going to work in my Converse trainers and especially now the business is growing I am definitely not looking back."

Kate would not change a thing though and enjoys teaching people Vinyasa, hot, pregnancy and postnatal yoga at Worcestershire Yoga Studio, The Willmott Room, Spetchley Park Gardens.

Growing up in the town, after attending St Peter's, Witton and then the high school, the mother-of-be graduated from university with a Masters and began working for British Airways for ten years as a technical designer.

While living in London, she discovered yoga and, as her passion grew, she practised all over the capital and began thinking it would be great to bring something so positive and transformational back to her home county.

"Even as recently as six years ago, yoga in London was a completely different experience to what you would find in a town or village like Droitwich- it was upbeat, hip, modern and there were often as many men as women in the class.

"I had struggled to find any yoga classes to go to in Droitwich when I was back home visiting my mum - so I decided to set something up here myself."

It was in 2009 she took a sabbatical from the airline before packing up her London lifestyle to teach yoga in Cutnall Green to test the water the following year.

"Loads of my budding yogis come from Droitwich and my links with the town alongside loads of hard work have helped it grow."

About a year later, she took the plunge and left her very secure blue chip career at BA to focus on yoga.

Five years later - and after a move to new premises at Spetchley Park Gardens - she has a couple of great teachers now holding their own classes and is expecting her first baby in November.

"I have trained in pre and post natal yoga and these classes are starting to flourish.

"London yoga centres have such strong community that I really wanted to recreate that and it is working - I am so happy when I see mums from the pregnancy class becoming friends and meeting up and supporting each other once they have had their babies."

As well as a new baby to look forward to, the future looks bright with plans to organise yoga teacher training in 2016.

She added: "The best bits about being a yoga instructor are teaching a class when it all comes together - the energy, the playlist, the right mix of moves that result in a fabulous shared experience and atmosphere.

"I also love the creativity of running a small business end-to-end - doing everything from website, to marketing, to creating posters and flyers.

"Even doing the less glamorous finance side of it as you feel like you draw on a range of skills."
