POLICE used a chainsaw to slice through a door during a dramatic drugs raid in Malvern tonight.

Rather than knocking - officers cut through the door with the chainsaw to give them rapid access to the home in Elgar Avenue at 7pm.

A man at the first floor flat will be interviewed on suspicion of drug supply offences after officers discovered a quantity of cannabis, around £500 in money and other items related to suspected drug offences.

The unexpected arrival of Malvern's Safer Neighbourhood Team, South Worcestershire Cops patrol teams and HQ Force Operations using the chainsaw was as a result of an executed warrant.

Boris, a highly trained drug search dog, also helped with the search of the first floor flat.

A spokesman from South Worcestershire Cops said: "We used chainsaws to gain a rapid entry to a property in order to give less time for the occupants to dispose of any evidence.

"The investigation is ongoing at this time and an adult male at the property will be interviewed on suspicion of drug supply offences in due course.

"If you have illegal substances on your premises, we will take action."
