THERE is a festive surprise in store for visitors to Bromsgrove High Street this year.

The town's first Christmas market will roll in to town on Friday, November 20 and Saturday, November 21.

Bromsgrove District Council, in partnership with Friends of St John’s, want local traders and crafters to get on board and have a stall at £10 per day.

Friends of St John’s chairman Jo Slade, said: "We are very excited about putting on a Christmas Market in the town and are building on the relationship founded over the last few years with the MidWinterFest. We are focussing on locally made crafts and we are putting a call out to anyone in the district who would like a stall to come forward."

Alongside the craft stalls there will be live music, street entertainers and food and drink on sale.

Councillor Caroline Spencer, chairman of the council, said: “The atmosphere in the High Street is going to be fantastically festive this year with so much going on. I’ll be flipping the switch on the Christmas lights but I’ll be sure to have a shop around the craft stalls and Christmas market first.”
