GENEROUS children from a Stourport school helped provide a boost for families in need during their Harvest Festival celebrations.

Pupils, parents and friends of Sytchampton Primary School donated a huge selection of food in tins, jars and packets that was handed to Droitwich Spa Foodbank, which has helped around 1,000 people in its first year of operating.

The school held a harvest assembly where children performed for visitors including Peter and Meg Richards, from the food bank, attended to collect the donations.

Mr Richards said: “It was a pleasure to visit Sytchampton School and meet member of the school council who presented us with a large Harvest food collection plus a cash donation which will all help to provide food support to local people who are in a crisis situation. A big thank you to all the pupils, parents and staff at the school”.

Head teacher Sharon Williams, said: "We are proud of our links with our community and are delighted to support this local charity who do such good work in our area."
