THE popular firework display will be back in Colwall this year, after being sorely missed for a year.

The Friends of Colwall Primary School will be running their fantastic family friendly firework spectacular again, now at the Colwall Cricket Club's Ghost Meadow ground on Saturday, November 7, from 5 to 7pm.

The popular community firework display had to be cancelled last year when the school playing fields were taken up with a new modular school village, after the old school buildings were closed because of flooding.

"The event has been missed by the whole community, not just the school, and there has been a great willingness to find another suitable venue," said organiser Edd Hogan.

Now the the Cricket Club has come to the rescue and is kindly lending the friends its second pitch to run the event.

"It will be the same great event, just a different venue," said Mr Hogan.

As usual there will be two displays, an earlier one without loud bangs to suit younger children, and then a later, louder, display after a short break. There will be a cash bar, hot food and drinks and a glow zone.

The event will be ticket only, with tickets (£6 adults, £4 children, and under-fours free), on sale at the school, John Goodwin's Colwall office and florist Lady P's near Colwall railway station, which is open 4-6pm, Monday to Friday. There will be parking at the village hall, but it will be limited, so anyone from the village is encouraged to walk.

Bring a torch, but do not bring any sparklers or fireworks to the event. No unaccompanied children will be allowed in. More information can be found on the friends page of Colwall Primary School's web site.

The Friends are a group of parents and teachers who support, empower and inspire, the staff, parents and children of our school.

It runs fun events that celebrate the Colwall community and nurtures its relationship with the community.

The money raised from events such as the firework display is used to buy equipment that would otherwise be unavailable, to broaden and enhance the learning environment of the school.
