A FIREFIGHTER from Droitwich has been “overwhelmed” by the response to the release of his superhero comic.

Jon Laight, 39, who works as a watch commander at Droitwich fire station, has written Brethren Born – a comic spanning time and space involving universal forces, vengeance and a hero to inspire the world.

And he has been delighted with sales of 50 comics during a launch at Worcester’s Hide N Geek store in Reindeer Court on Saturday, October 10, followed by a further 45 copies at the Nottingham Comic Convention on Saturday (October 24).

He said: “There was a moment at the comic convention when I saw a young girl reading the comic and that was when it really hit home.

“Publishing my own comic has been a personal dream for years but to now see people reading it, enjoying it and giving such lovely feedback has been really special and emotional.

“The whole experience has been overwhelming.”

Brethren Born, which is illustrated by artist Philip Knibbs, became a reality after more than £5,000 was raised from 115 backers via crowd funding website Kickstarter.
