A DAD branded his road rage attacker a 'coward' and a 'low life' after he was beaten-up in front of his terrified daughter.

Father-of-five Karl Williams says he was punched 10 or more times in the face while his hysterical daughter, just five years old, was showered with broken glass from the shattered driver's side window.

Both Mr Williams and another driver had pulled over in a lay-by on the A38 Roman Way, Droitwich near the Ombersley cut-off before the incident on Saturday, October 31, between 8.40am and 9.10am.

The altercation left the 35-year-old of Stoke Prior with a black eye, a cut on the bridge of his nose and blurred vision.

But Mr Williams said he was more concerned for his five-year-old daughter who was in the front passenger seat, strapped in a car seat at the time.

Mr Williams said she was left in hysterics as the other driver shouted and swore in his face and left her showered in broken shards of glass when he punched the driver's side window.

Mr Williams, who works as a driver and performs warehouse work, said he later had a check-up at Worcestershire Royal Hospital in Worcester but fortunately there were no broken bones.

He said: "She is okay. I think she's bearing up. But because of what happened she is frightened to come to my house again."

Mr Williams said his attacker even had the audacity to speak to his frightened daughter after the assault, crouching down by the window to say 'sorry about that darling' before he drove off.

Mr Williams, recounting how the incident began, had been driving along the A38 near the Chateau Impney when he overtook another car.

Mr Williams said the other driver then overtook him in turn near the Jaguar garage and pulled in very close in front of him as they headed over the roundabout towards Worcester.

Mr Williams overtook again where the road goes from two lanes into one. The other driver responded by overtaking him again.

Mr Williams claims the driver crossed white hash lines in this last overtaking manoeuvre and pointed to the left, asking him to pull over.

Mr Williams said both men pulled over and by this stage the other driver was shouting and swearing at him, pulling open Mr Williams's door.

Mr Williams said he pushed the man away towards the back of the car.

He said: "Out of nowhere he came up with a barrage of punches. I returned to my driver's door which is still open and he's attacked me from behind again which is pretty cowardly. "

At that point he also punched the window through, showering Mr Williams's daughter in glass.

Mr Williams added: "I went around to the other side to check my daughter was okay. He was stood by the door, crouched down and said 'sorry about that darling'.

"He's a coward for doing that with a child in the car. She can remember everything. He's a low life. He should have known better. She was showered in glass."

Mr Williams was in a red BMW 3 series and the other driver was in a Peugeot 207.

A spokesman for West Mercia Police said: "There are currently no arrests and the offender is described as a white man believed to be around 30 to 35 years old, 5ft 10in in height of a large build with short brown hair."
