A MOUNTAIN of a challenge was completed by intrepid schoolchildren aiming to climb Ben Nevis in aid of BBC's Children in Need.
The group of schoolfriends from Eldersfield Lawn Primary School, Worcestershire, have managed to collectively scale the heights of the highest peak in the UK tonight (Friday).
At 1,344 metres Ben Nevis is the highest peak in the UK - but rather than brave the weather, the children completed the climb in the relative safety of The Warehouse Climbing Wall in Gloucester.
There were cheers of joy as the brave group of seven and eight year olds managed to collectively climb over 1,700m.
They used the adult harness wall which towers to 11m, adding up their climbs to reach over their target total of Ben Nevis and raising £900 for Children in Need.
The sponsorship attempt was dreamt up byIsobel Baddeley, who loves climbing and was inspired by a brave and generous schoolfriend from Eldersfield Lawn Primary.
Isobel said: "My friend cut off all her hair for charity and was able to raise lots of money for the Princess Trust so I wanted to find something which would raise lots too, to help Pudsey.
"Me and my friends are really lucky and we want to help kids, like us."
