THE stabbing of a Worcester man has sent shockwaves throughout the city.

The 30 year-old was taken to hospital with serious wounds to his abdomen after he was stabbed in Bath Road.

It is believed to have happened near Bath Road Dental Surgery, according to a number of residents.

Police confirmed there were two individuals involved in the incident, and they are known to each other.

It has also been confirmed that a suspect has been identified, and the search for him is underway.

Detective Sergeant Lesley Fisher said: "We believe the two individuals involved in the incident were known to each other and the suspect does not pose a threat to the wider public. 

"There were a lot of people in the area at the time of the incident and we are keen to speak to these people.”

It happened around 6.40am on Saturday (November 14).

One man, who didn't wish to be named, said: "I have always lived in Worcester and this has shocked me to think someone was stabbed in the morning, here.

"The world's going mad.

"I drove past there early in the morning and saw a police presence and one of the houses taped and boarded up. I didn't think it would be a stabbing.

Anyone who witnessed the stabbing is asked to call 101, quoting incident number 112s of 14th November 2015.

Readers have taken to the Worcester News Facebook page to express their disbelief.

Gemma Alfie Bear Brooks claimed Worcester is changing for the worse.

She said: "It's not the same is it, very scary when you've got kids. I don't want my boy to grow up."

Aimee Harris: "We live on Bath Road with our 22 week old baby girl. What the hell?"

Lee Potter says he is fearful for his children's future too. 

He said:  It's scary now, I'm dreading when my kids are older.

"Why do people feel the need to use weapons in a fight? “

Kimberley Probert also posted: "The town is getting worse."

On Sunday, a 22 year-old man died after he was found unconscious on a Kidderminster road.

He was discovered on the A451 Ringway at just after 5.00am, but died in hospital hours later.

The man was discovered by patrol officers between the bus depot Island and Comberton Hill island and was taken to hospital by ambulance with serious injuries to his head and abdomen.

Detective Sergeant Laura Wright said: "Initial indications are that the man was in a collision with a vehicle but we are also considering that he was involved in an altercation.

"We are currently linking this incident to a disturbance outside the Tribe nightclub on Green Street, Kidderminster, which occurred at around 4.50am and we're keen to speak to anyone who witnessed this.”
