A PRESENTATION evening was held to recognise the explorer scouts from across Worcestershire and Herefordshire who attended the world scout jamboree.

Each scout was presented with a certificate of excellence and souvenir mug by the deputy lieutenants of Worcestershire and Herefordshire during the event at Hereford town hall.

Major Patrick Darling addressed the scouts, stressing the importance of the scout movement in today’s society and congratulated the unit on a “job well done”.

The evening ended with a slideshow of photographs from the trip to Yamaguchi city in Japan, which participants have described as “mind-blowing” and “fantastic”.

Thirty-six explorer scouts - known as unit 43 or the ‘apples and pears’ – took part in the trip, including two scouts from Worcester, two from Pershore, 11 from Malvern, 10 from South Marches, two from Kidderminster, six from Redditch and two from Ross-on-Wye and one from Bromsgrove.
