A 'LOYAL and lovely' dog is hoping to find a loving home this Christmas after spending half his young life in kennels.

Jack who was originally from Worcester is only two years old but has spent half that time in private kennels in Suckley, longer than any other dog in the care of the local branch of the RSPCA in Worcestershire.

Now the RSPCA Worcester and Mid-Worcestershire is hoping people will show some Christmas spirit and finally give the boxer cross the loving home he deserves.

Branch trustee Geraldine Haynes said: "Poor Jack has been in care for more than 12 months now.

"He came to us through no fault of his own as a very young dog.

"His original owner was suffering from ill health and became unable to look after Jack any longer.

"He spent last Christmas in kennels and he is really hoping he'll be in a loving home before this Christmas.

"Everyone at the local RSPCA and the private kennels where he's looked after cannot understand why no-one has picked him and why he gets passed by.

"He sees other dogs coming in and going off to new homes, but he's still there.

"Good natured and very friendly, Jack is a real character and brings a smile to your face, just watching him.

"He loves everyone he meets and gives a paw.

"Jack's favourite pastime is swimming and it's a job to keep him out of water once he spots it.

"He enjoys company and would be a loyal, loving companion.

"Jack is good on the lead and with other dogs. A truly lovely lad, who really deserves a forever home."

He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and ready to go to his new home.

He even comes with six week's free pet insurance.
