FROM Santa Claus to snowmen and reindeer - people will be donning their best festive jumpers to support an appeal set up in memory of a four-year-old who loved Christmas.

Scores of schools, businesses and organisations have already signed up to take part in the Christmas Jumper Day to support the Grace Kelly Ladybird Fund.

People will wear their favourite Christmas jumper on or around Friday, December 18 in exchange for £1 for schools or £2 for businesses which will go to the Children's Cancer and Leukaemia Group (CCLG).

The fund was set up in memory of Grace Kelly, from Crowle, who passed away on 8 November, 2014 at Birmingham Children's Hospital who died weeks after showing signs of a malignant rhabdoid tumour.

Her parents Jennifer and Gareth said it was the perfect way to remember their daughter.

Mrs Kelly said: "Thank you so much to everyone who is helping organise event or who is taking part.

"We now have over 30 separate events taking place, raising much needed funds for the Children's Cancer and Leukaemia Group.

"Christmas was a time of year that Grace loved, like many children.

"She loved to give presents far more than receive them and was always the first to ask to put money in charity buckets because other people needed the pennies more than we did.

"This is why a Christmas jumper day or event is perfect.

"Grace for her last ever Christmas wore her Christmas Jumper, a Christmas pudding, with pride and it would be wonderful if we can get as many people as possible doing this to raise money in her memory."

Mrs Kelly added that the Christmas jumper day did not need to be on the Friday and extra funds could be raised through cake sales, games or a raffle.

The fund has raised £30,000 for CCLG and Acorns Children's Hospice.
