CHILDREN at Lyppard Grange Primary School had the chance to emulate their popstar heroes and become recording stars as their school was turned into a recording studio for the day.

Pupils from across the school have been in rehearsals for several weeks in preparation for the recording of the school’s first CD.

The CD was created through the School recording Stars project.

The final CD features 12 songs which are the children’s favourites rather than traditional Christmas tunes.

Not only have the children recorded the music they also took part in a competition to design the cover, with Olivia Lee in year 6 creating the winning design.

Children also became recording technicians, helping the producer during the day too.

Parents have the chance to buy the CDs – the ideal Christmas present for family and friends.

Deputy Headteacher Becky Thorp, who oversaw the project, said: “There was a real buzz about recording a CD. The children’s performances throughout the recording was superb. They really performed well, kept in time, articulated the lyrics clearly, watched their conductors closely and carried off harmonies to perfection. I’m so impressed, I’m buying CDs for my family and friends.”
