A CYCLIST who was found fatally injured close to the Malvern Hills died as a result of an accident, an inquest has concluded.

John Warner, aged 76, was riding along Wyche Road in the direction of Great Malvern when he came off his electric bike near to the entrance of the Earnslaw Quarry car park.

The accident happened about 10am on Friday, August 20. Mr Warner, who had suffered a life-threatening head injury, was airlifted to the major trauma centre at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham, However, his condition worsened and he died on Sunday, August 30.

Mr Warner, a retired RSRE/QinetiQ scientist, who lived in Hastings Road, left wife Bronwen, daughter Katherine and her husband Gavin, son Martin and his wife Christine, and grandchildren Bryan and Alexis.

On his mobile phone was found a picture of him at the top of the Worcestershire Beacon taken only a short time before he was found injured.
