STUDENTS from Worcester Sixth Form College have managed to gain coveted places at top universities Oxford and Cambridge.

The students, Daniel Scotson, Frances Arnold, Peter Lewin-Jones and Will Hodges, have been offered conditional places to read materials science at Mansfield College Oxford, history at Robinson College, Cambridge, maths at Mansfield College Oxford and medicine at St Anne’s College, Oxford.

Aimee Drescher, who was offered a deferred place last year, will also take up a place at Lucy Cavendish College Cambridge, to read English.

Principal Michael Kitcatt said: “At Worcester Sixth Form College we provide a really high level of support to our students with their university applications and our students are much more successful at obtaining offers from universities than is the case nationally.

"These students have fought off huge competition to obtain their places as there are about five applicants for every place at Oxford and Cambridge.”
