A headteacher has expressed frustration at how petty vandalism and thefts are taking money away from his school's students.

Neil Morris at Christopher Whitehead Language College spoke out after a banner was stolen from outside the school's Malvern Road side.

The banner was bought to advertise the school's annual Christmas Fayre by the Friends of Christopher Whitehead Language College and was ripped off the railings before Christmas.

The school says it cost £78.80 and will have to replaced for next year.

Mr Morris said: "You would be surprised by how much we have to deal with on the Malvern Road with debris and petty vandalism and bottles thrown in.

"It's quite costly.

"In this case, to have a banner that costs around £100 stolen is money taken away from the kids.

"We have to watch every penny at the moment, that's the bottom line.

"To somebody who is doing this it's a drunken prank, £100 quid here or there, it's fun but we have paid for that banner and we have to take the money from somewhere."

Anyone with information about the theft can call West Mercia Police on 101.
