CHILDREN from Sytchampton Primary School have donated their old chairs to be sent to a school in Africa.

The pupils received new classroom chairs thanks to a donation from the Lloyds Educational Trust but wanted the old chairs to be put to good use.

They sent them to School Aid which builds partnerships with African schools to help millions of children unable to attend school due to lack of basic equipment.

Sharon Williams, headteacher, said: “As an Eco-School and proud holder of our sixth Green Flag Award, we felt it was important to ensure our old school chairs could be put to good use somewhere else rather than simply be thrown away.

"We also donated some old resources and books and we are looking forward to hearing from School Aid about which school will benefit from this donation.

"We are hoping the school will be able to send us some photos of their children enjoying the new resources”.
