MARRIED couples will have an opportunity to renew their wedding vows at Worcester Cathedral on Valentine’s Day with a very special service.

This annual short celebration will be held at 6.30pm, enabling couples to re-commit their relationship to God before they go out and enjoy the rest of their evening together.

This year, the service is being organised by three curates from parishes around the diocese. They have designed a simple service with a couple of hymns which can be enjoyed by everyone.

Sam Setchell from the Diocese of Worcester said: “Whether or not you were originally married in church, and whether you’ve married recently or are celebrating a special anniversary; you are welcome to come and renew your vows in the cathedral, remembering the promises you made to each other. It’s a great way to start the celebrations of St. Valentine’s Day.”

The service, on Sunday, February 14, will last around 30 minutes. Couples will exchange wooden hearts as part of the service and there will be Fairtrade chocolate hearts given out at the end.
