DROITWICH Athletics Club are hosting their fifth Droitwich Half Marathon road race on Sunday, March 6.

The event is sponsored by Cotswold Outdoor at Wychbold and Rivers, who run various leisure facilities in the Wychavon district.

Spaces are limited and the entry closing date is Monday, February 29.

The undulating route will take in the surrounding countryside, neighbouring villages and hamlets of Droitwich Spa.

Following quiet country lanes, the run goes through Salwarpe, Ladywood, Hadley, Porters Mill and Fernhill Heath.

This is the first time the race has started and finished close to the town centre.

It is concentrated around the leisure centre in Briar Mill, with the start on the main road by Westacre Middle School and the finish on the running track at Droitwich Spa High School.

Registration is at the high school. Prizes for male and female winners are provided by Cotswold Outdoor and refreshments will be put on by 4 Shires Festivals.

All competitors will receive a goodie bag, and chip timing will be provided by StuWeb.

Tim Kirkham, of Rivers, said “The event has continued to grow each year and these events are great for the town.”

Entries are open to all runners over the age of 17.

They are available online at runnersworld.com or at droitwichac.co.uk or from Droitwich Leisure Centre or Cotswold Outdoor.
