ORGANISERS of Malvern in Bloom are looking for volunteers to make this year's bid a stunning success.

Malvern has won eight consecutive gold awards in the Heart of England in Bloom competition, and in 2014 achieved a silver-gilt award in the town’s first ever entry in the national Britain in Bloom competition.

Now, following a year’s break, the Bloom team is hoping that in 2016, the town can build on its past successes and win a further gold award, and maybe even become a category award winner as well.

And to set the ball rolling, a special information evening has been set up for next week, to give would-be volunteers the chance to find out more about how they can get involved and what the have to offer.

John Jordan, chairman of Malvern in Bloom, said: "We rely more and more on volunteers, and we are always on the look out for new faces.

"You don't have to be an expert gardener to make a contribution. You could take part in litter picks, or visit shops and small businesses along the judges' route to encourage them to do some sort of floral display.

"It all makes a difference to the way the town looks and people do notice. Visitors go into the tourist information office and tell the staff how welcoming the town looks."

Lyndsey Davies at Malvern Town Council said: "It is hoped that in 2016 Malvern can return to its blooming best and we need people like you to make this happen. Do you have a general love of gardening, are you able to spare some time so that Malvern can be seen at its floral best or do you have a specialist skill which could be used in this project? Everyone is welcome, and every contribution, no matter how small, could make the difference."

The information evening is on Thursday, February 25, at 5.30pm at Great Malvern Library. For further details please contact Lyndsey Davies on 01684 566667 or ldavies@malvern-tc.org.uk.
