A GANG of suspected drug dealers have been arrested and heroin and crack cocaine seized following a police chainsaw raid in Malvern.

Five people have been arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs in Malvern following a warrant executed at an address in Sherrards Green Road at 10am today (Wednesday) in Malvern.

A West Mercia detective sergeant from the Worcestershire Priority CID team confirmed at 5.45pm today that the drugs had been tested and are heroin and crack cocaine.

Twelve officers from West Mercia's Worcestershire Priority CID team, wearing personal protective equipment, hacked their way inside the property using a chainsaw.

Although the warrant proved negative further investigations led to an address in Langlands Avenue where five people - three men and two women - were arrested.

They are now in custody at Worcester Police Station in Castle Street, waiting to be interviewed.

Suspected class A drugs were also seized and will be tested as investigations continue.

DI Stuart Murphy said: "It's all about responding to community concerns.

"We will respond to the threat, harm and risk that class A drugs bring to the community."

A neighbour who witnessed the initial raid said there were a lot of children living in the area and she felt it was 'dangerous' for there with drugs in the community.

She said: "It seems they chainsawed both front and back doors at about 10am this morning.

“My boys have never been out in the back garden because it's unsafe.”

Those who have suspicions about drug dealing in their area are urged to call West Mercia Police on 101.
